Latest Updates on Redistricting
On Tuesday, October 26, nearly 100 residents joined the Ward 6 Democrats, Councilmember Charles Allen, and Councilmember Elissa Silverman for a community conversation on redistricting.
CM Allen provided opening remarks, then CM Silverman, who is chair of the Subcommittee on Redistricting, gave a presentation about the process, after which participants were able to ask questions and offer comments.

What has happened since then?
We recorded the session, and you can watch the full recording on our website.
Since then, the subcommittee has released three discussion maps, which are available at CM Silverman's dedicated redistricting site.
The Hill Rag has published an analysis of the three discussion maps and a longer piece on the issues surrounding race and redistricting in DC.
The formal Ward 6 redistricting hearing has also taken place, on Wednesday, November 3, and you can review the full video of that session, which included testimony from many of our neighbors, on CM Silverman's Facebook page.
The next step in the process is subcommittee mark up of the formal redistricting legislation prior to votes of the full Council in December.
