Thanks to all the members who joined us online Thursday, September 9 to learn a little more about our newly elected slate of officers, hear about our goals for the coming months, and find out how to get involved.
We discovered that our officers have hidden talents:
1st VP Dorinda White is fluent in Italian
Parliamentarian Ethan Van Ness has a musical theater background
Young Dems chair Frank Avery plays the tuba
President Elizabeth Engel shared the team's goals, which included:
Membership growth
Keeping Virginia Blue in this fall's state election
Building relationships with community and Democratic party organizations across the Ward and the city
Hopefully, someday (soon?), resuming in-person events
We talked about opportunities to get involved through our refreshed committee structure (see the next item), and had an opportunity for open Q&A from the floor.
We plan to hold general body meetings quarterly, so we'll see everyone again this winter.
