It's Black History Month, which means it's time for the annual Serve Your City / Ward 6 Mutual Aid Black History Month book drive!

Run in partnership with Ward 6's East City Bookshop, this effort is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: Students across Washington, DC deserve access to books that reflect who they are and the worlds they imagine for themselves. By providing Afrocentric books by Black and Brown authors to K–12 students across the city, the book drive aims to ensure young people can see themselves, their families, and their communities reflected in the stories they read—at home, in school, and beyond.

You can learn more about the effort and purchase books from our young scholars' wish lists at https://www.eastcitybookshop.com/schools-and-community-outreach/community-partnerships (or in person at East City Bookshop, 645 Pennsylvania Avenue SE).

When shopping online, please put "SYC Book Drive - W6 Dems" in the comment box and select the "Pick Up" option at checkout.
