Ward 6 Democrats Holiday Happy Hour - Tuesday, Dec. 11
Join Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, your Ward 6 Democrats officers, and a host of other special guests Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the upstairs room at Mr. Henry’s (601 Pennsylvania Avenue SE) to celebrate the holidays and YOU, our dedicated volunteers.
Light fare will be provided. It will be a cash bar (with happy hour specials), but you’ll have the opportunity earn a free drink. Ask our volunteers how when you check in.
RSVP at: https://www.ward6dems.org/ward_6_holiday_happy_hour.
The Ward 6 Democrats plan to organize volunteers to support Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts in key congressional races for the Tuesday, November 6 midterm elections.
We are focused on congressional races that meet these criteria:
Statehood/DC Affairs: We will support Democratic candidates who have confirmed they support DC Statehood. We will work to defeat Republican candidates who support congressional interference in DC affairs. #HandsOffDC
Proximity: We will work in districts geographically close to DC.
Impact: We will work in districts that stand a good chance of being one of the 23 seats we need to flip the House this November. We want our contribution to impact the composition of the House of Representatives.
The Ward 6 Democrats are proud to announce Women of Ward 6, a non-partisan recognition of Ward 6’s women who make a difference. This effort will culminate in the 100th anniversary (in 2020) of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
During the final Ward 6 Democrats/Hill Rag pre-primary non-partisan debate among the candidates for the Ward 6 council seat (which took place Tuesday, June 5), we ran out of time before we ran out of questions. The candidates graciously agreed to respond in writing to those we didn't have time to ask in person.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to provide your thoughts in our membership survey this month!
What does this mean for our actions in 2018? We are still parsing the results, but at a minimum we will be considering ways to improve our communications to you, and expand and diversify how we engage our members through events. If you have ideas – and energy – to help us, please let us know. You can get added to our list of volunteers by signing up at http://www.ward6dems.org/join_us
One key piece of feedback was wanting to see more partnerships, and events that support national elections as well as DC issues. We have done just that. See our regular “Volunteer Opportunities” and “Ward 6 Dems Events” newsletter sections for more.
We have much to be thankful for and to share that bounty with others. It is a time to reflect on what we have done and what we still need to do. The Ward 6 Democrats wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
