The Ward 6 Democrats will be holding our biennial convention on Saturday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. SHARP. This important meeting is convened every two years so we can conduct the business of the organization: electing the officers who will lead us for the next two years and, this year, voting on critical updates to our badly outdated bylaws, which were last revised in 2003.
We need you to plan to attend and vote on these two critical pieces of business.
What: Ward 6 Democrats Biennial Convention
Where: Christ Church (620 G Street SE - parking in the rear, accessed from the alley)
When: Saturday, June 22, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Who: All registered Democrats currently living in Ward 6
In order to open voting, we need a quorum of at least 35 registered Democrats currently living in Ward 6. We hope to open voting no later than 10:15 a.m., so please be prompt. However, once voting is open, you can vote at any time until our polls close at 1:00 p.m. You do not need to stay the entire time - you are welcome to drop in any time between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., vote, and go on about the rest of your Saturday.
Your current slate of officers has been working on the revisions to the bylaws for the last several months. Please review the revised bylaws before you come. We will not conduct an in-person review or hold a discussion at the convention - this will be an up-or-down vote only.
The revised bylaws are available on our website at https://www.ward6dems.org/proposed_revision_to_bylaws.
